Snowman Elephant Gourd Locket
A little elephant pretending to be a snowman, with a tasty roll balanced on its head (its favorite).
One fully grown gourd, split down the middle and scraped clean inside — what's left is this shell. The gourd grew the shell itself. I did the second half: matching the cord, threading it, working the rim round and round until it's closed up neat, so it can hang on you instead of sitting on a shelf.
The more your hands are on it, the deeper the color goes — pale yellow, then honey, then amber, and finally a jujube red that looks like it's lit from underneath. The ones people actually carry get there faster than the ones on a shelf, because they're being touched all day.

What fits: the upper lobe is 4.0 cm (1.6 in) deep. Hold a ruler up to whatever you're planning to carry before you order. It tells you a lot more than a photo does.

The shell was measured on its own, and the walnuts were picked to suit this one's openings. The two were matched to go together. On a different shell, this pair might not sit right.
